Masonry towers, located in seismic zones, are vulnerable and prone to damages up compromise their stability. The scatter of data on the mechanical properties masonry, geometry boundary conditions determine a lack building knowledge expected behaviour. Therefore assessment capacity represents critical task. This paper contributes issue analysis masonry focusing meaningful case study: St.Silvestro belfry L’Aquila, Italy. tower, severely damaged by 2009 earthquake sequence, underwent extensive restoration works, endeavoured mitigate its vulnerability. observed damage, performed no-destructive testing campaign accomplished rehabilitation measures described paper. authors appraised actual performances belfry, reinforced last works. This paper presents a new numerical tool for evaluating the vibration frequencies and mode shapes of masonry buildings in the presence of cracks. The algorithm has been implemented within the NOSA-ITACA code, which models masonry as a nonlinear elastic material with zero tensile strength.
